Ok ... not posting this to mock Palin but to just show how Bush-like this is. She won't meet with investigators because this Trooper problem has become to political, infested with Democrats.

She thinks she is above the law ... amazing. No wonder people like Doe and Cincy support her.

If they want to talk to her.. issue a subpeona.. this thing is becoming an issue because the Dem's are scared of her and want to try and dig up dirt on here where it doesn't exist. MSNBC is becoming the new Faux news.

how about if its a report from alaska news instead of msn...make it any more believeable? this isnt "becoming" an issue..it was an issue before she was picked as veep. ya know..back before the neocon machine took over handling everything palin..back when she said she welcomes the investigation (nary a thought on whether it should be her hand-picked appointees on the board the neocons decided should be handling it) and will certainly be glad to cooperate.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The McCain-Palin campaign has lashed out at former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.

A campaign spokesperson now claims Gov. Sarah Palin fired Monegan because he worked against her on the budget.

The campaign held a press conference Monday while an independent investigator, hired by the state Legislature and armed with subpoenas, looks into the firing.

In fact, the subpoenas were delivered on the same day as the campaign held the press conference.

"Today we are here to release new information that completely exonerates Gov. Palin -- and conclusively proves once and for all Walt Monegan's egregious insubordination led to his early dismissal," campaign spokesperson Meghan Stapelton told reporters.

The campaign blasted Monegan, claiming he fought the governor on the budget and met with lawmakers in Juneau and Washington, D.C., without her approval.

"Commissioner Monegan repeatedly tried to undermine the governor's authority by working against her and the administration over the Department of Public Safety budget," Stapelton said.

The message from the campaign differs from what the governor said over the summer.

Palin has previously said she fired Monegan because she wanted to take DPS in a new direction.

Later, she amended that statement, saying he failed to meet recruitment goals for troopers and police departments, and that he did not do enough to combat alcoholism in rural Alaska.

"We were all told 'different direction' that the governor wanted to take DPS -- I could understand that -- but it shifted," Monegan said in response to the allegations. "We already were heading -- then it seemed like it jumped from one reason to another. I have no reason to believe this is any different."

Monegan says he was never warned about advocating for the department and that the administration knew of and supported his trips to Washington, D.C.

The campaign's approach to the inquiry took a noticeable change Monday as well.

Stapelton accused Monegan of "egregious insubordination," "obstructionist conduct" and a "brazen refusal to follow instructions."

The simmering dispute seems to be creeping ever closer to a boiling point.

The campaign also attacked the investigation, citing what it calls "a web of connections to the Barack Obama campaign."

However, some of the partisan conduct the campaign referred to came from a Republican lawmaker who says he has a McCain sign in his front yard.

She said she did not request for him to be fired. When she became governor they was asked if the family had any security issues of concern. Todd told them about this brother-in-law and that the trooper had threatened some family members lives (that is enough to be fired).
Very simple and to the point. If she was not running for VP this would not even be an issue.

Now the funniest SHIT of all, today Carly Fiorina, a McCain camp economic advisor and proud feminist announced that Sarah Palin was ready to be VP of the United States but not ready to have taken over the role Carly last had ... as CEO of HP. Carly said Sarah was NOT qualifed to run a company. WHAT THE FUCK, not qualified to run a company but we are going to put our kids future in her hands with her finger on the nukes? With her appointed Supreme Court Justices. Hilarious. McCain's camp needs to stay on script and keep people in line, they are screwing this election up and it is theirs to lose. Heck we are running a black man for petes sakes. McCain should be way out in front.

What's even better, is McCain hired Carly, who was fired from HP for spying on her employees and let go with a very large golden parachute.

Are you deaf or only hear selected words and phrases? She also included the other 3 players involved. Thought you might want to watch EXACTLY what Carly said and not just the snippet you choose to slam with.

No sir ... her first comment was about Palin ONLY, then the campaign got to her and on MSNBC she tried to clarify her comment by saying McCain nor Obama and Biden could run a company. Her first quote was strictly about Palin. There were TWO incidents of this comment yesterday by her. Also ... the McCain camp has now taken her off of the prominent campaign spokesman list. lol

so the state ag, appointed by palin is doing now what he never mentioned in the months prior to palin being named the veep contender. LOL! methinks this will not fly.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080917/ap_on_el_pr/palin_troopergate

JUNEAU, Alaska - Alaska's investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power, a potentially damaging distraction for John McCain's presidential campaign, ran into intensified resistance Tuesday when the attorney general said state employees would refuse to honor subpoenas in the case.

In a letter to state Sen. Hollis French, the Democrat overseeing the investigation, Republican Attorney General Talis Colberg asked that the subpoenas be withdrawn. He also said the employees would refuse to appear unless either the full state Senate or the entire Legislature votes to compel their testimony.

Colberg, who was appointed by Palin, said the employees are caught between their respect for the Legislature and their loyalty to the governor, who initially agreed to cooperate with the inquiry but has increasingly opposed it since McCain chose her as his running mate.

"This is an untenable position for our clients because the governor has so strongly stated that the subpoenas issued by your committee are of questionable validity," Colberg wrote.

Last week, French's Senate Judiciary Committee subpoenaed 13 people. They include 10 employees of Palin's administration and three who are not: her husband, Todd Palin; John Bitney, Palin's former legislative liaison who now is chief of staff for Republican House Speaker John Harris; and Murlene Wilkes, a state contractor.

French did not immediately return a telephone call Tuesday for comment.

Earlier in the day, Harris, who two months ago supported the "Troopergate" investigation, openly questioned its impartiality and raised the possibility of delaying the findings.

Like Colberg's letter, the surprise maneuver by Harris reflected deepening resolve by Republicans to spare Palin embarrassment or worse in the final weeks of the presidential campaign.

And it marked a further fraying of a bipartisan consensus, formed by a unanimous panel before Palin became McCain's running mate, that her firing of the state's public safety commissioner justified the ethical investigation.

In a letter, Harris wrote that what "started as a bipartisan and impartial effort is becoming overshadowed by public comments from individuals at both ends of the political spectrum," and he urged lawmakers to meet quickly to decide on a course.

"What I may be in favor of is having the report delayed, but only if it becomes a blatant partisan issue," he told The Associated Press, while indicating he already believes it has become politically tainted.

Democratic state Sen. Kim Elton, chairman of the Legislative Council, the 14-member panel that authorized the probe, had no immediate comment on Harris' request. Under an unusual power-sharing agreement, the council is made up of 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats.

At issue is whether Palin abused her power by pressing the commissioner to remove her former brother-in-law as an Alaska state trooper, then firing the commissioner when he didn't.

The matter risks casting a shadow on Palin's reputation, central to her appeal in the campaign, that she is a clean-government advocate who takes on entrenched interests — not a governor who tried to use her authority behind the scenes to settle a personal score.

Palin has defended her behavior and said she welcomed the investigation. "Hold me accountable," she said. But she and the McCain campaign have taken actions that could slow the probe, possibly past Election Day.

Also Tuesday, five Republican state lawmakers filed a lawsuit against an investigation they called "unlawful, biased, partial and partisan." None serves on the bipartisan Legislative Council that unanimously approved the inquiry. They want it pushed past the election or top Democrats removed from the probe.

Making clear the dispute has ramifications beyond Alaska, Liberty Legal Institute, a Texas-based legal advocacy group, was working on the lawsuit. The institute has taken on a variety of cases in defense of conservative Christian positions.

Elton called the lawsuit "a distraction."

"The silver lining in this action initiated by the five lawmakers is that some of that debate now has been kicked to the judicial branch which, unlike the Legislature and the governor's office, is more insulated from the red-hot passion of presidential politics," he said.

Palin fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan in July.

Weeks later, it emerged that Palin, her husband, Todd, and several high-level staffers had contacted Monegan about state trooper Mike Wooten, who had gone through a nasty divorce from Palin's sister before Palin became governor. While Monegan says no one from the administration ever told him directly to fire Wooten, he says their repeated contacts made it clear they wanted Wooten gone.

Palin maintains she fired Monegan over budget disagreements, not because he wouldn't dismiss her ex-brother-in-law. She has sought through her lawyer to have the matter investigated in a more favorable forum, the state personnel board.

Seems interesting to me that someone who's innocent and said in the past "hold me accountable" is referring all inquiries to the McCain Campaign. The AG of Alaska, who was making phone calls on her behalf, has now told 12 state employees not to answer to subpoenas.

Sounds like a lot of back office activity for someone who's innocent.

Report Released Shows No Evidence Palin Violated Ethics Law
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/11/03/investigator-evidence-palin-violated-ethics-law/

AP
Monday, November 03, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin violated no ethics laws when she fired her public safety commissioner, the state personnel board concluded in a report released Monday.

"There is no probable cause to believe that the governor, or any other state official, violated the Alaska Executive Ethics Act in connection with these matters," the report says.

"Alaska Personnel Board investigations are normally secret, but the three-member board decided to release this report, citing public interest in the matter given Palin's status as a candidate for national office. Election Day is Tuesday."
