Tiger Woods 10/Wii MotionPlus
So has anybody tried out the new Tiger Woods game with the new MotionPlus add-on? I've been tempted to get it, but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. I am moderately fond of video game golf (real golf = $$$$), but the one they had on Wii Sports had pretty bad controls. Supposedly the MotionPlus is supposed to give the game much more position information so that the actions more accurately emulate what you're doing. Haven't tried it yet, though.
On a side note, I hacked up my sensor bar to be "wireless", which basically means hacking off connector, splicing it with a 8.5VDC transformer only to find that higher voltages cause flaky reactions. Transformer was thus replaced with a 7.2V battery for a cheapo electric drill - worked like a champ. Wires were clipped to battery using paperclips. So wireless just means it's no longer tethered to the Wii unit itself. Anyway, I'd like to think I did pretty well for an incredibly rash and impulsive decision to chop the sensor bar's wire.

I haven't tried the tiger woods thing... I too am a fan of golf video games as I get bored with the actual game after about 30-40 mins; I also think that the golf scenery lends itself well to great graphics....
you are bad arsed for hacking up your Wii like that... So are you saying that the sensor's wire carries only power, not data?

I haven't played Tiger Woods yet either. I'm kind of excited to try out the new Wii Sports game. I think it's supposed to come out July 21st or something like that. It's called Wii Sports Resort. It also uses the Wii MotionPlus.

Sound cool...in any case, I'll probably jump on the MotionPlus bandwagon soon enough. I told myself I wouldn't get another game until I finally finish Metroid Prime 3, but with work and a general lack of time I have to spend on it, I might just make an exception for this.
And Pez, yeah, before I hacked it up, I had read that the sensor bar is nothing more than IR LEDs...the true sensor is in the Wiimotes. And that makes sense, especially if you've seen the Wiimote calibration screen. The two dots are the two clusters of LEDs in the bar. Unfortunately, when I had the 8.5VDC transformer, I was driving the LEDs too hard and their output frequency had shifted. At least that's what I imagine happened, since my digital camera clearly showed them lit without flickering and yet it still wouldn't work. I've had trouble with that at work, too, so I'm pretty sure that's the case.

I was looking at this today at target. Too many other video games still in shrink wrap before I buy another unless it is a super deal. Which is why I was considering it at target. $59.95 for the game and a $20 target gift certificate.

Must... resist...
I almost caved and picked up the TW10 and WM+ this week. Glad I didn't because Sunday night the Wii went on the fritz again. Hell yeah, I checked the cables this time! I think it's time to get the volt meter out and check the signal on the Power Supply. No lights, nothing! Suffice to say, my XBOX v1 is getting a lot more play time than it has in the past 6 months.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot about this thread...I ended up buying the game. Pretty fun! The frisbee golf is a little underdone - once you get the "putting" frisbee out, it's all over. You just do a little flick and it's impossible to miss. I hope they work on that for the next time, but it's definitely an entertaining game. I also tried it without MotionPlus - ugh, not worth it. This also makes the party mode iffy, since I only have one motionplus and the other player(s) get stuck with the regular wiimote. Still, a worthwhile game, I think.

Oy! I picked up 2 Wii motion plus today. One was in a bundle with a game called Wii Sports Resort.
I'm gonna try to find Tiger Woods 10 on ebay or something.

How is the Wii Sporst Resort? The original Wii Sports is a great game, I hope the sequal is just as good.

It's awesome. The fam thinks it's better than sliced bread. Our favorite games: Fencing/Sword play - duels on a round platform suspended above water, try to knock your opponent out of the circle/off the platform before time runs out. Skydiving - just what it sounds like, jump, float, grab onto other divers. Table Tennis - 'nuff said. With the motion plus it's actually works like you'd hope it would. Bowling is awesome. There's about 2x or more games than were in Wii Sports.

I'm definitely going to get it. I will probably wait till fall/winter when the Wii gets used and abused more.
