Mindless Tuesday Food Question...
What foods would you never try?
I've become a lot more openminded foodwise in the last year, but there are two things (off the top of my head) that I'll never try. Frog legs and octopus.

Frog legs are the grub. Years ago there was a place in Cantebury (Chaucer's Inn) that served them. Had them quite a few times.
As far as what I wouldn't try...all the stuff the fools ate on The Fear Factor.

I'm not sure there's anything I'd never try. I'd try to avoid any kind of brains, sheep, monkey or others.
I'd never try sea urchin again. I love sushi but Uni makes me want to puke.

Frog legs and octopus are yummy.
I would never eat Rocky Mountain Oysters or any kind of brains. Also not blood pudding doesnt sound very appealing.

I've helped make blood pudding before. DEFINITELY something I would NOT try. I'd rather starve.sunny d wrote:Frog legs and octopus are yummy.

Re: Mindless Tuesday Food Question...
I have not had blood pudding but have had blood sausage when I was in Europe. Thing is, I thought it was regular sausage until someone told me what was really in it. Usually I don't let non-mainstream ingredients get to me but I just couldn't finish it after finding that out.

Amen to that!!! they are the BOMB! although I have to admit that not one American restaurant that I have had them at has a clue how to really make them (frog legs) most will bread them, which (I think) makes them just taste like chicken.
I like a lot of "weird" food (snails, oysters, sardines etc are YUMS!) but almost any "english" recipe that I have had has been GROSS (blood pudding, pickled fish to name some)

Re: Mindless Tuesday Food Question...
Octopus is good, so is Squid (calamari).
Especially grilled, served over a bed of spring mix and drizzled with a balsamic dressing.
I've had brains before, cow's brains.
I tasted aligator, not a big fan.
I had deer, buffalo, smoked goose breast. Loved all of these ones.
Sardines are amazing, I make sandwiches with them, stuff them in a pita and add some lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes.
Blood (Black) pudding is not my thing. I know people who make that stuff. Could never bring myself to try it.
