I know how ya feel, the last placed I worked, I think for like 3-4 years in a row---women won the pool lucky broads...

How in the world did Duke get a #2 seed? 2 games and choked in both of them.

Coach's rep and team history, of course the actual games played sometimes ruin that seating in tourneys. Yep Duke was over rated this year.
Re: NCAA Basketball Pool
Duke is a good team, they just have an obvious weakness and you have to be able to shoot to beat them.
That's why small schools can always pull upsets (not saying WVU is small, just in general), because they play TEAM basketball and typically have 4-5 really good shooters. Big schools just rely on talent and athleticism for the most part. For some reason Coach K has decided to get shooters over big men lately and it's killing him because his shooters always go cold in the tournament.
He's turning into Coach Knight. Good program, never any violations, wins 20+ games every year, graduates most of this kids and loses early in the tournament. I'd take that over any other coach, it's just kinda funny to see it happening to one of Coach Knight's disciples.

Re: NCAA Basketball Pool
WOW ... comparing Coach K with Bobby? When Coach K strangles someone or throws a chair across the floor or tells Connie Chung that female rape victims should just lay there and enjoy it because they can't do anything about it then make that comparison. LOL. Nah, Card I understand your comparison, I just wanted to get a few jabs in at Coach Knight.

Overall I'm at the 50th percentile and currently sit in 1,115,521st place. Woohoo.

I don't know but they sure got slaughtered. At least they were in it at halftime though, which is more than I can say for Michigan State.LTRT2 wrote:What the heck happened to Wisconsin?

I thought Kansas would beat Davidson, but I certainly didn't think it was going to be that close!
And, awwwwwww, Texas got slaughtered. Pooooooor babies.

A little bitter? You seem to have the same amount of respect for Texas that Buckeye fans have for that stinkin school up north.

That "strategy" is looking pretty good now.LTRT2 wrote:Markwes wrote:LTRT, you didn't really pick the highest seed for every game did you? That breaks the golden rule of brackets!
I got caught playing with the options and couldn't figure how to edit.
Got lucky this afternoon didn't I? I sense IU losing so that'll take me out from perfection.

Re: NCAA Basketball Pool
The "respect" is about the same, yes. A&M/Texas is a HUGE rivalry in the Lone Star State. Texas is way ahead of A&M in total victories in pretty much every sport also, which doesn't help the bitterness factor.
I pretty much root for anyone playing Texas, with the lone exception being when Texas was playing USC for the national championship in football. It was good to see the Big 12 defeat a team that was anointed the national champ before the game even started.

Ah yes, back on top. Looks I need NC to beat Kansas to squeak out a victory over Cincy, which would be sweet as cherry pie.

I hope that happens ONLY because I've got $$$ on NC winning it all in one of my other leagues. But if they don't, I will take sincere pleasure in knowing that you will probably lose to me.
Re: NCAA Basketball Pool
Well.. I'm really hoping that the UCLA that played Xavier shows up this coming weekend and not the one that showed up against A&M. I think the KU/UNC game will be great.. two teams that like to run and gun, and have the athletes to do it. And with Roy facing his old school it'll be interesting. As long as Calipari loses the first game I'm happy.

Re: NCAA Basketball Pool
I almost entered this pool and picked the seeds... I know very Little about basketball... My wife knows quite a bit... says crazy things like "why the hell arent they blocking out!?" and other nonsense. Its only a few months before the Colts start their second champioship run in three years... I can wait.
Basketball season seems to be pretty much over in a week anyway. I mean there are MONTHS of NBA playoffs, but not too many folks really care, right?

I think that's the biggest problem with the NBA playoffs... they take.... fooooooorrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvver.
Drives me nuts, even if I wanted to watch some games I couldn't get into it I'd lose interest by the time the series was over.

even back in the reggie miller days when it would take months to finally lose to the knicks I was having a hard time keeping interested.

Re: NCAA Basketball Pool
Imagine how much more fun the NBA might be IF they somehow developed a Win-Next-Game-Or-Go-Home Playoff system, or for that matter, even the other major sports. I believe that's the great thing about the NFL playoff system and college basketball.
