Re: Obama’s Address to Students or Students address back to Obama
So Obama challenged my kids to various things, and I listened and it all sounded good.
Let me speak for my kids when I challenge him right back...work for ways to reduce the deficit instead of running up multi-trillion dollar deficits that you expect my kids to pay back. Eliminate wasteful spending (i.e. The Porkulus Bill). Encourage companies to create more jobs here in America. Those are some of the goals that every child (if they knew better) in America should be asking of their government.

Your credibility suffers with terms like Porkulus... I shudder to think where we would be without the stimulus, and I think that fact that less than 30% of it has been spent speaks to the way in which this administration is using restraint in the application of funds in such a way as to be able to better reacts to the still volatile and varied economy...
Did you ask your kids what they thought? Are their brains "washed?" Are they secretly stashing their lunch money in order to buy a pair of "Obama brand Jack Boots?"

Perhaps I should have refrained from the Porkulus part, would that make you feel better? Can we agree that a goal of gov't should be to eliminate wasteful spending at the very least?

So Bman, are those unreasonable requests that I have on my kids' behalf??? Can your boy live up to them? Can any gov't official live up to them for that matter?Bman wrote:Cincy just has buyers remoarse because he has the blood of dead fetuses on his hands for voting for this monster. -- my very best Doe impression.

Agreed, and the fact that the administration has exercised restraint in spending speaks to that point.

http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/282812,white-house-projects-9-trillion-dollar-deficit-over-10-years.html
Washington - The United States will rack up a massive 9 trillion dollars in debt over the next 10 years if nothing is done to halt the spending explosion, according to a budget update released by the White House on Tuesday. The White House's increasingly dire projections - more than 2 trillion dollars worse than a forecast earlier this year - is largely blamed on measures to halt the country's longest recession since the 1930s.
So maybe the caviot is the IF NOTHING IS DONE. So I challenge our gov't...do something to halt the spending explosion!
Re: Obama’s Address to Students or Students address back to Obama
Is this the same speech that has so many people up in arms?
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/090908/usa/us_education_obama_bush_1
WASHINGTON (AFP) - After taking a bashing from the right, US President Barack Obama got a boost Tuesday from an influential conservative for his plans to give a speech to school children: Laura Bush.
The former first lady waded into the fray over the president's speech later in the day, which conservative critics slammed as an attempt to brainwash students and convert them to socialism.
While parents had a right to "choose what they want their children to hear in school," Bush said, Obama was justified in giving a back-to-school address.
"I think there is a place for the president of the United States to talk to school children and encourage school children," she said in a CNN interview.

Cincy, the $9T debt we inherited, this year will add probably over a trillion to the debt if all funds are spent.

Yes there is a 9T dollar debt. The CBO says it will double (i.e. 9 trillion dollars more) if all of Obama's wish list is approved with in the next 10 years.
Re: Obama’s Address to Students or Students address back to Obama
Keywords "there is" and "there will be, if"
Simple common sense says we know the sun will rise tomorrow. No one can say at this moment there will be a $9T debt in 10 years.

...and then another trillion and so on and so and so on.
Senate must raise debt ceiling above $12T
http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/57493-senate-must-raise-debt-ceiling-above-12t
Democrats in control of Congress, including then-Sen. Obama (Ill.), blasted President George W. Bush for failing to contain spending when he oversaw increased deficits and raised the debt ceiling.
“Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren,” Obama said in a 2006 floor speech that preceded a Senate vote to extend the debt limit. “America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership.”
Obama later joined his Democratic colleagues in voting en bloc against raising the debt increase.
Now Obama is asking Congress to raise the debt ceiling, something lawmakers are almost certain to do despite misgivings about the federal debt.

Re: Obama’s Address to Students or Students address back to Obama
EASY response LTRT ... if Bush would have reduced the deficit during his 7 years of prosperity then this spending now to bring us out of the Bush Trickle Down Depression would not be adding as much. Bush had 7 years to NOT do deficit spending since we were in prosperous times, now in a Depression you have to spend your way out.
Thanks Bush ... thanks.

Where you get your economics degree from? Nice rationale for his runaway failed programs.
I'd rather call them payback for getting him elected myself. I see you forgot the Dem's have had Congress since 2006. Who controls the purse strings in Washington again? FAIL, once more!

Well since this years deficit is 1.8 trillion dollars I say 9 trillion isn't going to be to hard to meet. The CBO if anything under estimates the actual cost of long term deficits. Of course if the health care bill doesn't pass I believe it is only suppose to be 7 trillion then. Hey, 2 trillion debt not bad for something that is suppose to be budget neutral.
