Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
I remember thinking back in the mid 90s that Powell would be the first African American President, based on his popularity (at the time) with the public...now, unfortunately his testimony about WMDs in Iraq would probably be used against him if he ever tried to run, even though he was just being the good soldier and doing what he was told.

Ding, Ding, ding ding we have a winner.
Ollie you get a cookie. Not sure who will give it to you though.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Retired U.S. Gen. Colin Powell, a former secretary of state in the Bush administration, on Sunday endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
In an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press," Powell backed Obama over fellow Republican John McCain, calling the Democratic nominee a "transformational figure" who could be an "exceptional president."
Powell said he plans to vote for Obama in the November 4 election but does not intend to campaign for the Illinois senator as Obama and McCain enter the final weeks of their battle for the White House.

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Rush Limbaugh said Colin Powell's decision to get behind Barack Obama appeared to be very much tied to Obama's status as the first African-American with a chance to become president.
"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race," Limbaugh wrote in an e-mail. "OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."
As for Powell's statement of concern this morning about the sort of Supreme Court justices a President McCain might appoint, Limbaugh wrote: "I was also unaware of his dislike for John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia. I guess he also regrets Reagan and Bush making him a four-star [general] and secretary of state and appointing his son to head the FCC. Yes, let's hear it for transformational figures."

If Powell thinks BHO would be sooo good for the country, then why won't he go out on the campaign trail for him? Must be more about CP than BHO...

WEAK ...
If Powell had said he wanted to go out on the trail for Obama you would be saying "look the powerful republican black man is campaigning for the liberal black democrat must be all about their skin color" and if Powell does not campaign you say "see if he really does not support Obama".
No matter what he did the Angry Right Wingers were going to lash out. Pat Buchanan did last night and Rush ... hannity will today.
The right wing can see the writing on the wall ... America has repudiated trickle down because it fucked up this country. I am going to miss Card on November 4th., I wanted to see him change his NOBAMA avatar to President Obama.

He did, by publically endorsing a candidate, you are campaigning. Rush interestingly contadicted himself by mentioning that Colin Powell was opposed to Clarence Thomas also...
Rush would be singing Colin Powell's praises as a great American if he'd backed McCain. It's Limbaugh's job to be a demagogue...

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Rush is probably glad CP endorsed BHO, and is more than likely privately hoping Barry wins the election so that he has more to talk about today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, etc...
Barack Obama getting elected to the White House would be great for talk radio. It means more ratings, which in turn means more revenue. That's all radio is...ratings and revenue.

Bill Maher issued a warning to Obama either this past Friday or two weeks ago that if Obama wins that he is going to lampoon Obama for all of his fuck ups too ... I might have to drop my HBO subscription if he does! NOT ... I want people to hold Obama to his promises.
