Old Taco Cabana Building
Any word on what's happening with it? I stopped by Arby's Friday morning and noticed a flurry of activity at Taco Cabana.

Probably another Mexican or Oriental restaurant. I wouldn't be surprised.

I doubt we can find any info on that, but I would say it's more than 2 but less than 6.

If the over/under was 2, I would bet over.

Maybe so, but I guarantee it's nowhere close to 6.

I'd guess closer to 6.. I remember it being opened when I first moved back here from college (2001) but not much after that.

You guys may be right. It just doesn't seem like it's been that long to me.
Then again...I've never eaten there so it's not really something I keep tabs on, either.

Ok, so I found this, now I can sleep tonight.
A quick google search landed this from some blog, at least it's over 2 yrs.

Shit dawgs!
I'm down in B-Town, but "home" is Huntington, IN. I frequent Fort Wayne constantly.
The DCBS store is the greatest thing to ever happen to Fort Wayne. 35% off all comics is amazing.
I really want some Zesto's ice cream, and it's saddens me that the Taco Cabana by Coldwater closed.

I found the same thing. I actually e-mailed the folks at Taco Cabano's corporate office in hopes of them actually replying. I really doubt they do, though.

Whats wrong with Zesto's?
My favorite is Scoops up in Angola. Every Sunday evening we make a trip there before heading home from the lake.

Zesto's blows.
OMGoodness, I think they have the BEST ICE CREAM IN FW, by far!!! I have been a Zesto's fan for many many yrs. As kid, my friends and I would walk about 3 miles to Broadway, just for Zesto's!!! Just had a cone last week!

I've had a beef with Zesto's ever since I ordered a Medium Banana Milkshake @ the location in Auburn. It cost me close (maybe even more) to $4.00 for the thing and they used "banana-flavored" syrup. Give me a friggin' break. That tastes absolutely NOTHING like banana. Not even close. I've never understood why people market that crap as being banana-flavored when it doesn't taste anything like a banana. The same goes for peach-flavored anything. I love peaches...I hate anything (candy, ice cream, drinks) peach-flavored. It doesn't even vaguely resemble the taste of an actual peach.
My point...if I'm going to pay the extra money for a milkshake...in this case, $4.00...I'd expect to have chunks of bananas in the sumbitch.
Oops...I crapped in a bucket! It's the same color as peanut butter, so that's what we're going to call it. Peanut Butter flavored crap!
That was my only experience at Zesto's and, as far as I'm concerned, will be my only experience at Zesto's.
Blue Moon (in Garrett) and The Brown House (in Auburn) have the best ice cream, bar none.

I also like Zesto's, but I usually don't get anything fancier than a cone dipped in chocolate...which is starting to sound good now. I think for "fake" ice-cream (a.k.a. "soft serve"), they're fine. But I am definitely more of a real ice cream person in most cases.

Now that we've got that out of the way, back to:
maybe I'll stop by for a Jamoca shake and ask around, not that anybody will know.

Fleek, you crack me up! I agree with everything especially at $4.00 a piece. Oh, and I have a thing for those gummy peaches.

I've never understood the fascination behind Zesto's.. it's no different than Dairy Queen.. give me Ritters anyday over them all.. they at least offer something different. And luckily I work by the only custard store left in town.

Taco Cabana was the first place in Fort Wayne I ever ate at. The bottom of the carry out bag broke from the grease of the taco. That was my last experience there.

I wish Arby's in FW carried Black Cow Shakes. I should not have to drive to Warsaw to get one. I have to settle for stealing sips from my daughter's vanilla shake when we let her get one.
