I suppose all you dems think this is a good thing. When in the US, do like the French do.

Rep. Alan Grayson was standing in the middle of Disney World when it hit him: What Americans really need is a week of paid vacation.
So on Thursday, the Florida Democrat will introduce the Paid Vacation Act — legislation that would be the first to make paid vacation time a requirement under federal law.
The bill would require companies with more than 100 employees to offer a week of paid vacation for both full-time and part-time employees after they’ve put in a year on the job. Three years after the effective date of the law, those same companies would be required to provide two weeks of paid vacation, and companies with 50 or more employees would have to provide one week.
I suppose all you dems think this is a good thing. When in the US, do like the French do.

Re: Paid Vacation Act
Okay LTRT...how is this a bad thing? I mean, a little R & R never hurt anybody. Most companies that have over 100 employees can surely find someone to cover for the vacationing person. Or did we all turn into robots and nobody told me?
Re: Paid Vacation Act
While I think paid vacations are great. I just don't think the government should be telling a company what benefits they have to provide to their employees. If the employee wants a paid vacation they should find a company that has that as a benefit.
If it passes it will just be another reason for companies to move their business off shore or constraint the business so as to not exceed the minimum amount of employees to not offer that benefit.
Of course with the government telling businesses what wages to pay(minimum wage and executive pay cap), medical benefits in the national health agenda, and now vacations there will be no need for these silly unions now. Well what do you know there would be a bright side.

Wait, I want a $100,000 minimum salary for everyone who works. There, no more poverty.

Tell that to the Walmart greeter who will be out of a job because of this legislation. Oh, I suppose you think all these companies are just going to swallow the loss of worker hours.Bman wrote:Markwes wrote:Wait, I want a $100,000 minimum salary for everyone who works. There, no more poverty.

Re: Paid Vacation Act
Who here does NOT get paid vacation of at least 1 week already?
I know I do. But I still don't make enough scratch to go to Disneyworld once a year with a family of 5 while paying for private school, saving for college, buying ice cream treats after the baseball game, etc.

Maybe they will have to add jobs to cover the vacation time ... (sarcasm there for all of you).
