This is not a new line from Bill Maher ...

There are times when you have to shake your head at the stupid things people in this country will do and what they will believe.

we as a people allow the highest-profit companies or med, pharm, and oil to control and manipulate our economy, pray to the gods when we want rain or want the rain to stop, demand change by voting in a guy we think can change the national dynamics as they are but turn against him when their personal agenda isnt completely gratified within his first 6 months in office..things that took years if not generations to get how they are. nuttin stupin here is there.

we have the republicans, one of our two major political parties, who have evolved to a base by which their whole campaign strategy is based almost exclusively on lies and non-answers (thanks to the karl rove playbook) for how many years successfully..who voted for (and continuously overrode the very small majority of the opposing party) when their guy was in but refuse to give honest talking points or make any real effort to try to improve things in our nation by just say no to everything dem.

Maher is just the liberals version of Rush Limbaugh .... get over it.

So you are defending his comments by blaming the republicans? Tell me what has Obama done to prevent oil speculators from driving up the price of oil? I believe Obama has an overwhelming majority in the senate and house so he can pretty much pass anything he wants without the threat of a filibuster.

Are you going to continue to blame the republicans when Obama has a green light to push through whatever kind of legislation he wants to?

Rush has NO class .... freakin' drug addict, forced his staff to lie and get him his vicoden and percoset, flies back from vacation in the D.R. and has a stash of viagra in his luggage. Hey now. There is nothing wrong with Rush. Spirit of the Radio, Tom Sawyer, they put out some great songs in the 70's and 80's. This despite being from Canada!

So, being a drug addict makes him classless? I hope you never have to go through yourself or a family member with an addiction, but if you did, I'm sure you would sing a different tune. And while I rarely listen to him, even I know what he meant by wanting Obama to fail. If that's the worst thing you can come up with that he's said, it's pretty obvious who wins the "no class" award between him and Bill.

Rush is an entertainer that desires to make money. His opinions and the way in which he expresses them serve only that purpose. He's very good at it.

And Spirit of the Radio was awesome... I once had a 12 cassette case where I had all 12 (at the time) Rush albums... in order... from "Rush" to "Signals"...

I was listening to Rush the other day and he was discussing the fact that GW threw a strike when he threw Out the first pitch, then said Obama threw like a girl, and that he was wearing the white sox jacket so that when the people booed him he would be able to explain it away that he was booed because he was wearing a white sox jersey, then further postulated that the crowd was actually booing him because he is a bad president... it was all riveting stuff.

I dont mind Bill Maher... I dont listen to him much tho

The man was making a point about how he believed the Liberals had a double-standard. In a way, he proved his point. As soon as Bush was in office, all you could find were news stories about how he was a failure, and was stupid, etc... No one made a big deal about these comments. But, one Conservative radio show host says "Obama: I hope Obama fails [which by Obama, he means Socialism]" and Limbaugh becomes a racist and unpatriotic.

You missed my point... Rush made the comment because his entertainer/politico image would not allow him to say otherwise... OR he's too stupid to research what socialism is to realize that Obama is not a socialist. Which do you think it is?

I believe deep down that the Rush Limbaugh that stares himself In the face while brushing his teeth does not want Obama or this country to fail. The Rush Limbaugh that appears on the radio will say whatever gets him noticed, makes him seem relevant, or perhaps even creates sensationalism.

He's actually in a great position right now... he can attack Obama instead of being a Bush apologist for 8 years. Tough job.

My turn... deep down, do you think Rush Limbaugh is presenting his own opinion on his radio show, or is he portraying an opinion in order to maintain his conservative blowhard persona?

I dont personally find him all that intelligent, he's neither clear or concise in his commentary, and his arrogance annoys me. When I look for a neocon radio fix, I prefer Hannity.

I think Rush, and many others for that matter, are the way they are for 2 things. Ratings and Revenue. I know I've stressed this before. But their job as a radio (or TV or whatever) commentator is to get those two things for the company they work for. If they don't, guess what?...they're out of a job.

But it is tough to tell if the Rush that's in the mirror brushing his teath is really the Rush we hear. Good question. I'd say at least 25% of the Rush in the mirror is what we hear on the radio. But that's just my guess.
