As reported by the Los Angeles Times moments ago, the up-until-now anonymous creator of the poster sweeping the nation is a 20-year-old college student of Palestinian descent with largely liberal political leanings.

interesting find markwes... it never occurred to me that the joker poster would be considered racist... While I think that media outlets drawing conclusions (albeit predictable ones), show much about their own preconceptions.

It's likely true that there is a preconception among the media and lay people that anyone criticizing the president is likely to be white, and likely to be conservative. Just as anyone criticizing Bush was likely to be liberal (go figure).

It seems the media in this case are looking at who would be least likely to do the joker poster and then concluding that whomever did it must have the opposite qualilties... black, liberal and tolerant becomes white, conservative and racist.

The fact that the real individual is none of those things speaks more to the media desire to continue the status quo of divisiveness, and as such are doing little to further any sort of unity... the funny thing is that furthering unity isnt the media's job either...

wasnt this covered in another thread, where the artists race and political opinions were discussed?

and back to the exciting topic of faux beating everybody in ratings..i am doing my share to support their ratings..anyone see beck finding communist symbols in the rockafeller center art and building architecture? it was a hoot..his fave art investigator is surely dan brown!

Dunno. Could it be that the distance between "can't believe/won't accept" and "racist" is a relatively similar distance between "black man" and "nigger"?

I'd only interchange can't believe/won't accept with racist if I was ABSOLUTELY SURE the words would fit, it's not safe to assume (IMO) Wilson is racist. Beck outright proclaimed/accused Obama of "Racist... having deep seated hatred for white people".

It's just not a good idea to use any of these words... change the subject.

why would anyone think joe wilson is a racist? i removed the non-race references..but some others were interesting, particularly the vote against vet funding.

No, I think we he shouldn't be throwing around accusations that cannot be proven. Hell, the razor I'd use is if I'd be hard pressed to come up with a good example, just skip it... move onto the next subject.
