So they'll still go to the hospital and get free care. No savings there unless Obama is going to ban them from the emergency rooms.
Is the Christian thing to deny them healthcare? Is the Christian thing to shoot at them as they cross the border? What would He do?
It would be the Christian thing for immigrants to legally reside in the country in which he/she is a citizen. I don't believe Christians would shoot illegals as they cross the border. You might but Christians wouldn't.
CLASSY .... try to flip the subject on this, how can you blame a mother or a father for trying to immigrate here illegally to give their children a better life and yet you want to deny them healthcare. What does taxes and deficits have to do with how impoverished people are treated?
"immigrate here", how about doing this legally?
Do we have to go thru this all over again? Lay off the lattes

Lattes need jobs too... a cadillac in every pot and a chicken in every garage... little espressos running around... Show some compassion...

Jesus did. You know him?
The parable of the good Samaritan has been ringing in the back of my mind occasionally throughout recent discussions of health care.
The government didn't have a role in that parable did it? The good Samaritan used his own money and paid for the lodging and wellfare of the beaten traveler. Then told the innskeeper to keep a tab and let him know how much he owes when he returns and he'll square up. Remember a parable is an earthly story told with a heavenly meaning. You guys want to keep government separate from religion remember?

What's that Christian thing say about paying taxes?

It's not my responsibility to pay for their healthcare or take pity. I've got my own family to care and provide for so why should I be concerned for a family I don't know who is residing in this country illegally. Can any of the lefties answer that question? Keep pushing your socialism bman. Your true colors are quite evident.

Kroman your greed has totally left you devoid of any compassion. I bet if you had been born in Mexico to an impoverished family and then had kids living in the card board box houses in Reynosa that you would try to illegally bring your family to America to out of love and hope for your family. These families are trying to make things better for them and their kids just like you would do but because it is not you suffering or your kids your mindset is changed. It would be like me since I have no kids want to make every parent pay for public education since I have no kids, or make married couples pay the same tax rate as a single ... sometimes you have to put what is best for you second and look at the big picture. WWJD in this case ... he would not do as you say.

I think some people don't understand the word "illegal". No one is saying hospitals should turn away a guy who comes into the ER having a heart attack. They just shouldn't be covered under any national plan. If someone applies for the plan and we know they are here illegally, we are supposed to just say "Here is some free healthcare"?? Yikes.

I wasn't referring to any proposal. It sounded to me like Bman was suggesting it.meta4 wrote:Markwes wrote:I think some people don't understand the word "illegal". Wild. Sounded to me he was talking about compassion.
Reading his post, the key word "compassion" tipped me off.

Roughly how many states currently give drivers licenses to illegal aliens?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliot_Spitzer_drivers_license_controversy
Even in Elliot Spitzers plan NO DATABASE CHECKS REQUIRED. The licenses would look DIFFERENT. Sorry IBM/HP/et. al., no lucrative 88 million dollar contract for that database check.
The plan failed, and was dubbed his "single most unpopular decision as NY Governor"
---edit-added
Here's a snapshot of the situation 2 years ago... only 7 states, tightening the holes, cooperating/checking with Mexico's databases, etc.

Now down to 5 going to 4. But if the bill has no requirement for verification i.e. the Heller amendment what then requires the hospital, doctors office, company contracted by the gov't, or even the government to verify they are here legally?
Then just because the states have clamped down on the license, there are still fraudulent SSN, licenses, ID's etc. Some of them are very good.
So again why did they not include the Heller amendment to verify the healthcare went to US citizens?
Re: the july 1 health care town hall meeting
why do I get the impression the discussions revolving around drivers licenses is merely a distraction from the central theme of "reform"?
What's so damned 'Midas Touch' about Heller's amendment that will make or break universal health care? Why not verify legal US status with a social security number? Why not issue a fed health care ID card like the private insurance groups currently do based on legal US status?

Interesting. The last few lines of that usatoday article...
Utah state Rep. Glenn Donnelson, a Republican, has tried for four years to stop illegal immigrants from getting driver "privilege cards," which allow them to drive legally.
Donnelson says his bill may have a better shot this year because of momentum in other states. "I think the citizens are a little upset because the federal government's not doing anything about this problem," he says.
not the typical party line thinking ... in that the Federal Gov should be doing more, not less. Especially because this article is merely about driving privileges and not national ID cards, not related to Healthcare, etc.

If you and bman have compassion then why don't you set the example and donate your next month's net pay to a poor mexican family contemplating to move the U.S. illegally. Your compassion will prevent them from breaking the law, taking jobs, and getting free healthcare. Let's see your compassion with action, not words. Also, don't rely on the government to do it for you.

Dude get a F*'n clue....It isn't about drivers license's, it is about verifying you are a U.S. citizen and are authorized for this. The Heller amendment had nothing to do with drivers license's it has to do with verifying you can get the insurance.
So once again why are the dems against checking for fraud?

More like hypocritical there Mr. Cheerleader. She likes to criticize bible reading Christians and has made numerous comments about the bible is merely a story of "fables" then she quotes from it to make her athiestic point of views. Reeks of hypocrisy. Not sure what you mean by "double barrel and all". Seems like another miss to me.

Re: the july 1 health care town hall meeting
Meh. I suppose the Lord reveals himself the same way to each soul, eh? He generally reveals same plan to each believer so that we can all get on the same page, get organized according to our individual talents, and work together as one body. That's some plan. Think about it.
